We also collect information automatically when you use Vonnect, including your approximate location (derived from IP address), device type, browser, and usage patterns within the platform.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Match you with volunteer opportunities or volunteers near your location
• Display relevant posts from organizations in your area
• Send you notifications about new listings matching your interests (you can opt out)
• Improve the platform through usage analytics
• Process subscription payments for organizations
• Respond to your support requests and messages

3. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We may share limited data with service providers who help us operate the platform (such as payment processors and email delivery services), under strict data processing agreements.

If required by law or to protect our legal rights, we may disclose your data to authorities. We will notify you if legally permitted to do so.

4. Location Data

Vonnect uses your IP address to approximate your city or region. This is used solely to show you relevant local volunteer opportunities. We do not use GPS or precise device location tracking. You can adjust your location or browse a different area at any time from your account settings.

For organizations, your listed city/region is displayed publicly on your profile so volunteers can find you.

5. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools (such as Plausible Analytics) that do not track individuals across sites.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer (e.g., billing records).

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including TLS encryption in transit, hashed password storage, and regular security audits. No system is 100% secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

9. Children's Privacy

Vonnect is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
